Rotterdam

Rotterdam has become increasingly popular over the last few years. The city is an excellent venue for congresses, fairs and other events catering to the business sector, NGOs and associations. Not only because of the multitude of great facilities and attractive business locations, but also because of the huge range of leisure activities on offer in Rotterdam.

experience Rotterdam

You have to really experience Rotterdam. You can do this from a number of perspectives. Experience Rotterdam as a port city, for example. Nowhere else in the Netherlands is the port such an integral part of the city as in Rotterdam. This is obvious to the visitor from all the things going on around the water and indeed on it. You can also experience Rotterdam as a cosmopolitan city. The more than 170 different nationalities living here add so much to what the city has to offer the visitor. Its multicultural cuisine is just one good example. Experience Rotterdam as a city of architecture. Its skyline is peppered with iconic buildings, glittering architectural jewels begging you to take a photograph. You can also experience Rotterdam as a city of festivals. Visitors can enjoy the internationally celebrated North Sea Jazz Festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam or the multicultural festival, Robin Rotterdam Unlimited, to name but a few.

congress city

In 2023, the Netherlands again achieved eighth place in the ranking of international congress destinations, compiled by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

The ICCA ranking is an important indicator of the position of countries in the international congress sector. In 2023, the Netherlands retained eighth place, just as in 2022. This ranking is based on various criteria, including the number of international congresses, the minimum number of 50 participants per congress, the periodic nature of the meetings, and the rotation of congress destinations between at least three countries. In the international ranking, Rotterdam occupies 2nd place in the Netherlands and 47th place worldwide. Rotterdam owes its strong image as a knowledge city to the presence of the Erasmus Medical Center and Erasmus University.

leisure offer

You have to experience Rotterdam. You can do this from different perspectives. For example, as a port city. Or as an architectural city. Or as a cosmopolitan city with more than 170 nationalities. Rotterdam never stands still. But Rotterdam is also always on the move as a festival city. In the field of festivals, new, original festivals are presented every year. New restaurants, (coffee) bars and clubs regularly open their doors in exciting, innovative locations. And renowned museums and art institutions, such as Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Kunsthal, continue to fascinate with sensational exhibitions.
