De Doelen is one of the seven partners of 7 Square Endeavour. The mission of this international collaboration and sustainability project is to prepare cities for the future. It responds on a local scale to global urbanization and its negative effects, such as pollution, heat stress and flooding. Smart and innovative use of energy is one of the spearheads of this project. The Schouwburgplein serves as a testing ground for new innovative technologies, cyclical processes and business models. The Rotterdam square is the first in a series of seven worldwide.
To gain insight into the CO2 emissions of your meeting, you can calculate them in the form of a CO2 footprint. By mapping the CO2 emissions of your event or organization, it quickly becomes clear what the main causes of those CO2 emissions are. For example, is the CO2 emission mainly in mobility or in the production process? Or in both? By calculating the CO2 footprint, you know which measures you need to take to reduce your footprint.
De Doelen is a co-signatory of two covenants concluded in Rotterdam. The covenant ‘Green Theater’ and ‘Sustainable Hotels and Conference Locations Rotterdam’. These covenants were initiated by the Rotterdam Climate Initiative. In doing so, the participants have committed themselves to limiting their environmental impact as much as possible. By obtaining the Green Key, de Doelen is fulfilling these covenants and thus making a structural contribution to making Rotterdam more sustainable.
